So you just bagged some discounted plants?

So you just bagged some great discounted plants at your  nearest nursery or big box store. Best gardeners also buy a bag of shredded hardwood mulch and some 14-14-14 fertilizer. Here’s how to plant it like a Jacrist professional~

Dig a hole twice as wide as your pot, circle the outside of the hole with a layer of shredded hardwood mulch and sprinkle a small handful of fertilizer inside the hole BEFORE you backfill the space by chipping in the dirt/mulch mix into the hole around the roots. Tamp soil around the plant to squeeze soil in around roots and make a small ditch circle around the outside of the plant branch perimeter. Add some more mulch inside this collar.

Your plants will thank you and the resident earthworms will be attracted to the improved organic texture of the soil.

Recomposing and ReUsing

Had the pleasure of serving a delightful family by recomposing their landscaping by shuffling existing perennials and adding a new layout.

Can Jacrist help you?

Timing is everything~

Now that the weather is cooling down, planning your fall weed control is a good idea.

Plants naturally start to store sugars into their roots and stolons as early frosts occur. Applying herbicides makes them more effective as their molecules migrate  alongside the sugar molecules into the plant, making Fall the more effective time to apply weed control.

Improving on What You Have~

Often we are asked to help make an existing feature better.

Here is a backyard water feature that was interesting but unimaginative. We improved it and made it appear as if it has always been there, in the woods, with an atmosphere that drew your attention.

What do you think?

Creating interesting panels is always a fun treat, not only for our clients but for us, too~

Wattle Fence
Using black locust poles that do not rot in soil and recently cut willow branches, this wattle fence was erected to provide some privacy along the client’s property line.
