Got Mice or Voles?

Now is a good time to limit the mice & voles (bottom of pic) in your garden area. They are the critters who leave those trails from bed edges meandering into your lawn. They also chew the soft bark off trees and shrubs, often killing them.
I simply take a 2 gallon plastic pot, cut off a tall semicircle along the rim as shown and then flip the pot to cover up the mouse trap, with seed or peanut butter as bait.

When Should I Water My Large Potted Plant?

If you have a large potted plant and want an easy way to know when it’s time to water it, try my “Jacrist Dip Stick”. Make a hole to push a small plastic pipe into the pot, reaching to the bottom. Cut a stick that fits into the pipe and reaches to the bottom with enough left over to pull it out.

Use this ‘dipstick’ to measure if there is standing water at the bottom of the pot. When it’s dry, it’s time to rewater!

Approved Farmers to Families Distributors

As part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program Secretary Perdue announced on April 17, USDA exercised authority under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to purchase and distribute agricultural products to those in need.
Through this program, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) partnered with national, regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by the closure of restaurants, hotels and other food service businesses, purchasing up to $4.5 billion in fresh produce, dairy and meat products from American producers of all sizes.
This program supplies boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products and meat products into family-sized boxes, then transports them to food banks, community and faith-based organizations, and other non-profits serving Americans in need.
