Did you know that now plants are starting to reverse their intake? Instead of sending nutrients to their leaves, they are actually using this time to send sugars into their roots to store energy.
This reversal of nutrients means it is a great time to apply weed killer to existing weeds in your lawn and beds for a more effective weed control. Use a commercial weed and feed but try to find one with a lower nitrogen number (first number around 20) to discourage rapid top growth in your lawn. Of course, if you only have a few weeds, spot treat them with a spritzer bottle or tank instead of blasting the whole lawn.
If you only do one feeding a year, Fall is the time to do it!
