When’s The Best Time To Fertilize My Lawn?

If you only use one lawn fertilizer application each year, Fall is the best time to do so.

In the Fall, plants move vital nutrients into their roots so it will be available in the Spring for a natural greening up. Other benefits include not needing a fertilizer application until late May and you won’t chase an unnatural rapid, early grass growth when site conditions may be too wet to cut because of a high nitrogen early Spring lawn application.

I like to apply the season’s last fertilizer application around Election Day. I recommend Anderson’s triple 14 formulation, 14-14-14, available at Lakeside Sod Supply Co., Inc. in Clarence, corner of County & Goodrich Roads using a broadcast spreader.
