Looks like with the Governor’s new announcement, we will NOT be completing our cleanups as planned.
Will post when we are allowed.
Current Status of Work Completion
So as it now stands, Jacrist will comply with the current NYS guidelines and will complete only Spring Cleanups, as we are exempt from the ‘Stay At Home’ rule under Building Grounds and Maintenance.
Starting April 1st, weather and site conditions allowing, we will follow given medical protocol with only a two or three-man crew.
This also means we WILL NOT BE completing any new landscaping or hardscaping projects until given the go ahead by NYS.
We look forward to respectfully and safely completing our contracted service to you in a timely and conscientious manner as best we can.
We will continue to pray for our whole community, especially those on the front line of serving others medically and in community service, to stay safe and protected.
For those forced who remain at home, please continue to keep your families safe and occupied, try to create new routines with better, more healthful habits; and for all of us, that we may emerge from this experience, able to recuperate economically, physically stronger and more socially connected, as time allows.
This Can’t be Right~
This picture was taken close to the beginning of ‘Jacrist time’ with my first maintenance crew with Bob, Nelson and Ronny.
It feels like I went through a time warp wormhole as I look back and realize, “Wow! This will be my 42nd year getting to do this? That can’t be right!!!
Who would have thought I could still stay ahead of the greenhorns at this age? ?
Ready To Plant Yet?
Looking for an easy project you can benefit from now?
Why not start a lettuce or herb garden in long plastic planters you can hang off your deck or under your kitchen window?
(You can bring it inside at night to protect it from the cold)
Timing Is Everything!
Today and Friday looks like the first two days when weather conditions are compatible with spraying your organic insect control for aphids, tent caterpillars, mites and scale to bushes & trees.
(Temp day/night above 40 degrees)
(Fruit trees, euonymus, berry shrubs, arborvitae, yews)
Use Dormant or Volck Oil, or household Canola Oil.
Use 3 tablespoon/gallon setting and drench your shrubs until dripping, starting at the top and working your way down. Complete coverage is important to hit any hidden insect eggs in crevices of branches or stems.
Here’s an informative article which lists which plants you can/should limitedly spray:
Spring Cleanup Proposals
As per the latest NYS government’s recent exemption rulings and through guidance through the NYS Nursery and Landscape Association, landscapers in NYS may perform essential services for property maintenance and safety.
This includes care & maintenance of lawns and plants allowing mowing and plant care but not new installations.
I will begin Jacrist’s Spring Cleanup proposal on-site visits to select clients only starting Monday, Mar 23rd. Pending any further work restrictions, I will start completing cleanups starting April 1st, pending weather and site conditions.
Having a mobile office with printing capabilities will certainly be a help, allowing me to leave a written proposal at the door for each of my clients. I will also send the proposal online.
Unfortunately until further notice, Jacrist will not be accepting any new cleanup clients.
However if you will need landscaping repairs at your home or business, please contact me. Know I will continue to do what I can, when I can, to represent your interests in the best way possible during these uncharted territory we are in for now.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all who are being affected by this virus and the economic repercussions due to work restrictions.
